So this 27-year old student in the swedish town of Boras was walking home at 4 am a saturday morning when he saw something indeterminable coming to wards him in the middle of the street.
After a couple of minutes it dawned on him that it wasn't a person, and that it made funny noises.
It turned out to be a 300 lbs male seal crawling up to him and making contact. The seal looked really sad and worried, and when the guy kneeled in front of him the anxious sea mammal snuck up to him, leaned heavily on him and made pitiful sad sounds.
So the dude called the police from his cell phone. Understandably enough the officers had some trouble believing that a tipsy 27-year old student was sitting in the middle of the street holding a big and robust seal male in his arms, but they heard the forlorn bellowing through the phone and finally came.
It turns out that this was the 6 year old seal Atle, who recently became a dad, when his mate the female seal Asta gave birth to their first offspring. Since the reaction of the average seal dad to wards their kids (in the beginning)can be a little iffy, the staff of the zoo decided to temporarily move Atle from the Seal-Lake to the Penguin-Pond. For Atle the seal dad this obviously sucked major ass!
So desperate was he to get back to his family and away from the boring penguins that he climbed the fence.
"I couldn't believe my eyes" said Lena Rapp, zoologist and head of Boras Zoo.
Thank you
jedispice for this story, it made my thursday evening!
And on a completely different note...I bought myself some LEATHERRR!!
My friend Sofia is going to help me make a lovely leather top with leather lacing..ooh, I'm officially very excited!
It has this really nice reddish-brown color and is soft and thin, and I got it at a fair price. An acquaintance told me about this bohemian craftsman hiding away in his cellar studio behind the old Vaxala school here in town, and now I have this lovely piece of dead cow to drape myself in!!!
