The great South West
Sep. 25th, 2007 10:12 amI'm back, on LJ and by the computer after a while of taking care of my parents and going on a road trip to the South West of Colorado. Thank you so much for birthday packages with books and candy, cards, phone messages, emails, virtual gifts and sweet talk on LJ and on Facebook. Every single thing made me smile, so I looked like an idiot for a while last night when I got home. Certain emails were extra special, as were certain books, you know who you are.
Tomorrow I go to Chicago, but at least there I'll be able to check in on line, since my laptop will come with. I'll catch up on my f-list during the next couple of days, but right now I'll make an attempt to show some of the beauty of Colorado again. It's hard, because trust me when I say that no pictures can make it justice. The landscape is too grand to be caught on a still image..but I tried.
I met several critters as well, that simply didn't let themselves be caught either. I was barely able to get the little sleeping bat and the wild turkeys that you will see below, I did not get the two coyotes with a death-wish (doing a mexican stand-stare down with some cars in the middle of the road), nor the marmot nor the black bear that slowly jogged across the parking lot one early morning in Durango. Black bears are cute, greedy and much much smaller than the brown ones that we have in Scandinavia, but I still wouldn't want to fight one over my sandwich!
