Dilemma

I have joined a poetry community that is very good, in the aspect of having a lot of knowledgeable members that write well and have a lot of experience with poetry. I really need that, and I have checked out many on line forums that deal with poetry in English, and so so many are bad. The last thing I need is someone rubbing my back and then eagerly waiting for me to rub theirs.
I'll do that with close friends and sex partners, not with wannabe writers and critics.
The trouble is, in this community you need to vote on new applicants, and I've swiftly discovered that I really hate that. I have this deeply rooted fear that I'll quench the fragile poetical flame in some young aspiring soul or something...
I'm used to giving constructive criticism actually, I did it a lot in creative writing class in college for instance, but those were tough people of different ages but with one thing in common - they had done a lot of writing already - and a lot of reading. And they were already a special selection (only 20 people a year got into that class), which gave the whole experience a sense of balance that isn't present in this case.

Perhaps it's just lack of practice, and again a need for me to get used to giving constructive criticism in the English language. It feels really hard though - voting "no" I mean. It's a lot of fun voting "yes"...but to be fair, there are many more that would be on my "no" vote when it comes to poetic development in their applications.
I would like to ask some other, more experienced members if they felt the same in the beginning, and how they dealt with it, but I feel stupid asking.

I'll probably never be as blunt as some are.

Oh and also...I have a fever and the worst bloody cold I've had in years, but I still need to go out and have a chat with my damn professor.
